Crazy Americans

September 6th, 2008

Watching the American elections, I learned a few things about Americans.  First, in general Republican party represents people who are anti-abortion, anti-gay/lesbian, anti-stemcell, support gun ownership, pro Iraq war, support creationist theory of evolution and don’t believe in global warming.  While the Democratic party represents people who are pro abortion, pro gay/lesbian, pro stemcell, anti gun ownership, anti-Iraq war, pro Darwinian theory of evolution and believe in global warming.

I think America needs another party that combine to good things from those two parties above.  For now, Go Obama!

I think both Obama and McCain is actually quite good.  Anything is better than Bush.  If he’s not a son of a President and born in a wealthy family, I don’t think Bush will even get a job at McDonalds.  Sigh at American and their stupidity.

Sugar and Fruits

August 27th, 2008

Watched a very entertaining tv program called the Apprentice UK Version just now. It’s the very first episode. There was this guy who kept insisting on calling their team the A-Team (LOL), while his team members came up with good names. Then came the competition, selling fruits and vegies. I actually learned a lot from this show how to buy and sell fruits and vegies. Then the twist in the end, a great bloke with excellent quality gets fired while 2 others idiots allowed to go back. What an stupid guy, Alan Sugar. Don’t worry Ben, you deserve better than working for him.

Wii Fit R Us

August 27th, 2008

My wife’s cholesterol level is above average so we decided to get Wii Fit for her. It turns out that I have more need to use the device more that my wife. Sometimes it’s good to hear a blunt statement about yourself but people are normally too nice to tell you. The Wii Fit however is honest and blunt about its assessment of my health. “You are 15 kg overweight and have the health of someone 39 years old”, said the device in a cool voice. I guess this is the price I pay for sitting all day working with computer. So, it’s exercise, balance workout, muscle building and yoga for me for the next 6 months. I just hope the device don’t die on me before I lose 10 kg in 6 months.

Obama vs Santos

August 27th, 2008

It seems at the moment that Obama looked set to win the American election.  The other guy, the old & extremely rich McCain seems to be out of touch with the public.  I just hope that no one will assassinate him because some already tried.  I can’t help to find similarities between Obama and the character of Matt Santos in the West Wing series, it’s amazing how the series in the West Wing seems to predict the result of the real election unfolding at the moment.  If the result in the West Wing series can be used as guidance, then the result for the Obama campaign have nothing to worry about.

Bye Dear Colin

August 22nd, 2008

Been watching the women’s soccer match between USA and Brazil, and boy, those women, especially the Brazilian CAN play. I reckon these women should be allowed to play in the men’s soccer league. Maybe then we’ll see less diving and acting from spoiled male players.

On another topic, it’s really sad to hear that Colin the baby whale is going to be put down because no one knows how to feed a baby whale. You would think the Japanese would know since they’ve been catching whales for “research” purposes for years.

Black Thumb

August 12th, 2008

I always wanted to grow my own fruits and vegetables at home but there are a lot of obstacles for me to do so. First, I live in a unit with no backyard. Secondly, I seems to have the black thumb which is the opposite of green thumb, I always managed killed every plant I tried to grow. I used to own two cactus es and somehow managed to kill them both. I just don’t understand how someone could killed a cactus? It can grow in a very hostile environment such as the desert with searing hot sun and no water, but put it in a pot and give it to me, and the cactus will die.

That’s why I’m abit excited when I saw on tv there’s a company promoting a product called Aerogarden. The ad said that all I need to do is add water every 2 weeks and I will be able to grow my own fruits and vegies. But somehow I have my doubt, if I can kill a cactus that needs no water, will I be able to grow plants that actually need water?

Anyway, this Aerogarden cost a lot of money, I think around $280, not to mention additional $20 for extra seeds. What I wanted to know is, have anyone tried this before? and is it worth the money? For $280, I could buy 93 pots of herbs that cost $3 each from Coles . Surely from 93 pots, just by probability I could at least managed to keep 1 pot alive. Should I bother growing or should I just buy canned fruits and dried herbs like everyone else.

Sigh…

May 19th, 2008

It’s incredible how something can go from bad to worst so easily. I was angry with my PC when it kept rebooting itself every time I was using it to play games. So I opened the case and look inside the PC for anything loose. Accidently, I yanked a cable which was connected to my HDD, the cable was alright, but the HDD connector that was connected to the cable was broken off, so goodbye my new SATA HDD, sigh. I replaced the HDD with a new one and put the case back on. But alas, it didn’t turn on, apparently while trying to check some loose cables I may have damaged the power supply too. Should have just left the bloody PC alone.
